After a slight dip last week, ‘Regular Show’ came roaring back with a zany adventure as Mordecai and Rigby fought to be able to afford tickets to a Fist Pump concert. Everything seems to be going on fairly normal, with the boys picking up extra work from Benson to pay for the tickets. At least, until they run out of coffee.
The show excels at ridiculous characters, so the coffee bean and its snooty British handler were just the kind of insanity the episode needed. Speaking only in “COFFEE!” the bean was a brutal and vicious … thing? But in its defense, the boys did breach their contract in not bringing the bean and the “old bean” into the concert with them.
In their defense, the contract only said the word “coffee” over and over again and they don’t speak that language, but I’m sure it would be binding in whatever land the beans came from. At least they got to keep the t-shirts from the boys, and get the satisfaction of knowing that because of their coffee-induced stamina, the shut-down happened just as the concert was starting, meaning Mordecai and Rigby missed out on the entire thing.
Not much consolation if you wanted to see the concert yourself, but at least it proved to be a waste of time. And Mordecai discovered that the girl he was crushing has a muscled boyfriend who now has his number. Will the show have any continuity? Will this guy return? As long as it stays bat-shit insane, I’ll keep showing up. Just remember, there is no limit to how far you should go. If you push it too far, there’s always “Adult Swim.”
