He may be Galalunan, but Lance is still a guy, and guys are impressed with sweet rides! Lance fell a lot in love with the pictured sweet ride this week, and his obsession with it, led to a rivalry with its driver, the capture of a major local criminal and the achievement of a major milestone in his young Earth life. Following the rules rules! But not all the time.
The sequence with Lance trying to get his driver’s license while the White Dragon and his goons harassed him in surrounding cars was brilliantly hilarious, as was the instructor’s early attempts to keep her cool. But she wasn’t all business, taking offense when called fat and ultimately rewarding Lance with his driver’s license for not getting her killed. It was some pretty fancy driving.
The monster this week didn’t really serve much purpose other than to give the characters an excuse to Titan-up, which I guess they need to do at least once every week. Other than that, it was a more straightforward case of Lance stumbling into the crime ring of the White Dragon and their feud leading to the Dragon’s capture at the end.
And that was actually enough to make it entertaining. I didn’t even need to see any of them armor up to make the episode fun, and I appreciated that it found its drama and humor in a completely different way than we’ve come to expect so far.
I do hope we get to see more of the angriest police detective I’ve seen in a long time. I’d imagine the kids will find themselves interacting with the law from time to time. so let’s hope for some continuity!
