The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret, “The Snooker Player, the Black Canadian, the Turkish Terrorist and the Peanut”

'The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret' - 'The Snooker Player, the Black Canadian, the Turkish Terrorist and the Peanut'Identifier: Season 1, Episode 3
Air Date: Fri., Oct. 15, 2010 (10:00 PM)
Network: IFC

The opening seconds of each episode have included a list of charges in a courtroom being read aloud about Todd, and one had to do with child pronography. I think we got the genesis of that charge this week and more questions arose for me as to what the deal is with Dave. He seems to be maliciously and viciously trying to destroy Dave at every turn.

When asked for a good lawyer in London, Dave suggested the firm Young & Not, which leads to Todd stupidly looking up “Young & Not Legal” in a search engine and then not realizing that it was porn he’d found. That’s a bit of a stretch even for this character. Plus, who uses “Legal” as the term for finding a law firm online?

A lot of the humor is likely lost on American audiences, like the significance of the shirt Dave sets Todd up in the above picture. Alice was horrified by it, and we could infer from her response to it that it’s offensive, but the reference isn’t immediately apparent. The same with the use of Sainsbury’s supermarket chain last week.

Other things are more obvious like snooker player Steve Davis being a poor substitute for David Beckham as a celebrity sports figure for endorsement and Todd’s stupidity in offering $50,000 and then shifting it to 50,000 pounds without any sort of exchange. But we know he’s stupid.
