The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret, “The Snooker Player, the Black Canadian, the Turkish Terrorist and the Peanut”

'The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret' - 'The Snooker Player, the Black Canadian, the Turkish Terrorist and the Peanut'Identifier: Season 1, Episode 3
Air Date: Fri., Oct. 15, 2010 (10:00 PM)
Network: IFC

The opening seconds of each episode have included a list of charges in a courtroom being read aloud about Todd, and one had to do with child pronography. I think we got the genesis of that charge this week and more questions arose for me as to what the deal is with Dave. He seems to be maliciously and viciously trying to destroy Dave at every turn.

Supernatural, “The Third Man”

'Supernatural' - 'The Third Man'Identifier: Season 6, Episode 3
Air Date: Fri., Oct. 8, 2010 (9:00 PM)
Network: The CW

It’s about damned time the third man who makes up the stars of this show made an appearance. It’s only too bad he came bearing nothing but bad news. It was worth it for Dean’s awkward prayer to Castiel appearing to actually work and summon the angel. I don’t care what Castiel says, I say it was Dean’s prayer that convinced him to finally come down. I also think he knows something about Sam.

Smallville, “Supergirl”

'Smallville' - 'Supergirl'Identifier: Season 10, Episode 3
Air Date: Fri., Oct. 8, 2010 (8:00 PM)
Network: The CW

Kara’s back, and there was no awkward recasting and lame explanation for a new person having the same name as an old person as we got with Cat Grant, who vanished as quickly as she appeared. Laura Vandervoort returned in a very public way, in an outfit very similar to the one Supergirl actually wears. We’re getting so close to Superman, it’s ridiculous.

Rajiv revealed a secret to one employee, and proved to have a heart. At least when he’s not dealing with Todd. Todd, on the other hand, has a heart-on for Asha, so to speak, while Charlie is clearly into Tonya who’s pretty clearly into Todd. See, romantic triangles are universal.

The Office, “Andy’s Play”

'The Office' - 'Andy's Play'Identifier: Season 7, Episode 3
Air Date: Thu., Oct. 7, 2010 (9:00 PM)
Network: NBC

The theatrical side of Andy Bernard found an appropriate outlet when he brought the cast of a local production of ‘Sweeney Todd’ to the office as a viral marketing campaign. Of course, as it is Andy’s office, I’m sure they were all too aware he was in the play.

Fringe, “The Plateau”

'Fringe' - 'The Plateau'Identifier: Season 3, Episode 3
Air Date: Thu., Oct. 7, 2010 (9:00 PM)
Network: Fox

It’s back “Over There” to check in on the real Olivia Dunham … If Olivia isn’t careful, she may take all of the other Olivia’s memories and truly make them her own. I’m guessing that means that Secretary Bishop isn’t intending for the other Olivia to ever return home. Or he doesn’t really care once he’s been able to take advantage of the real reason he’s going to so much trouble to convince our Olivia that she’s his Olivia. Knowing the stakes, it does make more sense.

$#*! My Dad Says, “The Truths About Dads & Moms”

'Shit My Dad Says' - 'The Truth About Dads & Moms'Identifier: Season 1, Episode 3
Air Date: Thu., Oct. 7, 2010 (8:30 PM)
Network: CBS

My wife’s been in a few weddings (don’t worry, only one was her own), and those wedding makeovers aren’t cheap. Still, it was a pretty ill-conceived idea for Bonnie to think she could milk that same makeup for several days in order to have it for a television interview. Sure it looked funny as hell by then, but are we to believe she wouldn’t have known it was a mess, or that Vince wouldn’t have said something. Someone?!

Queen Latifah made a surprise turn as a Congresswoman looking into claims of racism at NBC. Unfortunately, things didn’t exactly look non-racist at TGS. With Tracy developing his own show, there is separate food for him and his crew and the TGS crew.

Community, “The Psychology of Letting Go”

'Community' - 'The Psychology of Letting Go'Identifier: Season 2, Episode 3
Air Date: Thu., Oct. 7, 2010 (8:00 PM)
Network: NBC

Betty White cameo alert. In fact, they could feasibly trot her out every few episodes to try and lure in new viewers. It’s a shame ‘Community’ is getting trounced by ‘The Big Bang Theory’ every week, because it continues to bring brilliant comedy with each new installment.

Despite how much he may want us to downgrade the importance of Amy Farrah Fowler in his life, I think Sheldon’s response to their break-up this week spotlights just how much she’s come to mean to him. In fact, she’s about 25 cats worth of caring in Sheldon’s world.

(BootlegTV-UK) An Idiot Abroad, “Petra, Jordan”

'An Idiot Abroad' - 'Petra, Jordan'Identifier: Series 1, Episode 3
Air Date: Thu., Oct. 7, 2010
Network: Sky 1

(What is BootlegTV? To put it simply, sometimes things are available in other parts of the world, but not in the US. That doesn’t mean they can’t be enjoyed here, though.)

How many people who would love to travel and see the seven wonders of the ancient world do you think are being driven mad by Karl Pilkington pissing and moaning all over each and every one of them. This week, he was off to Jordan to see Petra, a city in the mountains. Karl, though, did have a point in that the guy in the cave across the way had a far betterview than the one from inside Petra.

The Defenders, “Nevada v. Carter”

'The Defenders' - 'Nevada v. Carter'Identifier: Season 1, Episode 3
Air Date: Wed., Oct. 6, 2010 (10:00 PM)
Network: CBS

When Pete’s compassion gets him into trouble in an armed robbery case, he needs Nick to step in and save his skin. That allows Lisa an opportunity to close a case on her own. Oddly enough, that means the case of a stripper charged with solicitation went through three potential lawyers before Lisa was assigned to close it down. Both cases were compelling, and featured police incompetence and potential fraud.

Cougar Town, “Makin’ Some Noise”

'Cougar Town' - 'Makin' Some Noise'Identifier: Season 2, Episode 3
Air Date: Wed., Oct. 6, 2010 (9:30 PM)
Network: ABC

I remember going away to college, but I was always under the impression my mom was thrilled to have me gone. ‘Cougar Town’ added the element of Travis’s college, and the addition of his roommate Kevin to the cast. I have no idea if Kevin will become a fixture or fade away as fast as he arrived, but I kind of like his dynamic with Travis. He’s laid back and cool as a perfect balance to Travis’s mellow dork.

Modern Family, “Earthquake”

'Modern Family' - 'Earthquake'Identifier: Season 2, Episode 3
Air Date: Wed., Oct. 6, 2010 (9:00 PM)
Network: ABC

Nathan Lane appears as a guest star. Can you guess which family he was involved with? Jay learned not to piss off Gloria about her religion when an earthquake hit the entire region just as he challenges God’s will. And as you’d expect with this show, every opportunity for comedy is mined from this single connecting event for the entire cast, and every character is given a chance to shine, including all four children.

Better With You, “Better With Ben”

'Better With You' - 'Better With Ben'Identifier: Season 1, Episode 3
Air Date: Wed., Oct. 6, 2010 (8:30 PM)
Network: ABC

A potential recurring character was introduced that could provide regular laughs for years to come. In fact, the longer he hangs around the show, the funnier his schtick would be. The bulk of the episode revolved around a Putney family tradition: the themed photo Christmas card. Look at that, another recurring element for future seasons. What’s even more surprising is that after three episodes I’m actually looking forward to future seasons.
